Agricultural production in Russia in the first half of this year increased by 2.9 percent compared to the same period last year. This is reported in the review of Rosstat "Indices of agricultural production (January-June 2023)".
We are talking about the production of products in farms of all categories (agricultural organizations, as well as farms and personal subsidiary plots) at comparable prices. In the first half of last year, agricultural production increased by 7.3 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
According to the document, of the individual districts, the indicator increased most noticeably in the Central - by four percent. This can be explained by the large number of regions, due to which more projects were implemented there than in other districts. However, this is 0.8% lower than last year. Second place went to the North-West with an increase of 3.6 percent, although the decline last year was even more - 2.7. The most positive dynamics was shown by the Volga region with +2.4 and +1.6%, respectively, which belongs to one of the largest agricultural districts. Agriculture is developed there in most regions. In the Far East, the indicator grew both last year and this year, but this time the increase turned out to be much larger - 6.2 versus 1.8, respectively. The reason is the same.
In the rest of the districts, there was a decrease due to serious technical problems. In the Southern Federal District, it amounted to 1.3 percent against an increase of 5.5 percent last year. In the Urals, last year's decline was half a percent, and now it is 1.2 percent. In Siberia, agricultural production fell by 1.5 percent after rising by 0.9.
These data do not take into account the indicators of four new Russian regions - the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. The fact is that they have not yet been included in the system of official statistics.
